Irregularities in maternity benefits: wrong payments, upcoming announcements

Former OAED employees broke down phones trying to understand what happened and where they were receiving money from. According to the complaints, it appears that payments were made for this Maternity allowance In… luck, without processing orders. In fact, according to the newspaper “Democratia”, bonuses were granted even for applications that were canceled by the citizens themselves.

Specifically, according to the publication, the cases showing that DYPA made payments without verifying the requests are:

• Orders that were rejected by the system have been pushed
• The canceled orders were paid by the citizens themselves
• Claims were paid based on the dates they stated which were mostly wrong.
• If the mother submits two orders by mistake, she will be paid twice

The complaints submitted by the organization’s two labor unions state the following:

“Hundreds of claimants were paid for special maternity benefit when they did not meet the conditions, while others were paid benefits for much longer than they claimed and were entitled to receive.”

What will happen next? Syriza representatives have submitted a related question to Parliament and to the Minister of Labor, who will be asked to answer, while new developments and announcements must be awaited.
