More information about the health of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, who has been diagnosed with a lung infection and is undergoing treatment, was provided by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as he sought to reassure the nation.

King Salman, 88 years old, underwent medical examinations due to a high temperature and joint pain

The Saudi Crown Prince made reassuring statements about his father’s health during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

According to King Salman, he is in good health and receiving treatment.

The Crown Prince’s statement came while chairing a Cabinet meeting. At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to everyone who asked about the king’s health.

The Saudi Press Agency reported on Sunday that King Salman underwent medical examinations at the request of his medical team due to “a high temperature and joint pain.”

It was later reported that the king was to be treated for a lung infection with treatment including antibiotics.

King Salman, 88, was last hospitalized in April. The Saudi Press Agency said at the time that he was discharged from King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah hours after undergoing a routine examination.

King Salman has ruled Saudi Arabia since 2015 after the death of King Abdullah. Two years later, King Mohammed bin Nayef was removed from the position of Crown Prince and appointed his son in his place.

The 88-year-old king was admitted to hospital in May 2022 to undergo a colonoscopy and medical examinations, while in 2020 he underwent gallbladder surgery.
