World cinema mourns Michael Gabon, who took his last breath at the age of 82. Sir Michael John Gabon was an Irish-born English stage, film and television actor. Some of his most famous television appearances were in the British series The Singing Detective and Maigret (1992).
He is particularly famous in world cinema for his role as Albus Dumbledore in the last six films of the Harry Potter series, where he played the late Richard Harris. In his extensive career, he has won four BAFTA Awards and three Olivier Awards, among other awards and nominations.
He became famous as Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films.
As the family said in their statement, he “died peacefully in hospital with his wife, Anne, and their son, Fergus, by his side.”

“We are devastated by the death of Sir Michael Gabon. He was a loving father and husband. He died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and their son Fergus at his side after a battle with pneumonia. Michael was 82 years old. We ask everyone to respect this difficult time and thank you all for your support. Messages of support and love.
He has previously stated that he does not read the Harry Potter books because he is afraid of spoiling the illusion and magic in the film adaptation. The British actor, who participated in the “Harry Potter” film series, said that acting in the movie’s scenes would spoil his joy. “There’s no point in reading J.K. Rowling’s books because in the end I’m just playing screenwriters’ scripts.”
