World-famous Greek designer Mary Katrantzou designed the new clothes that the priestesses will wear at the ceremony of touching the Olympic Flame, which will begin its journey to Paris, where the Olympic Games will be held this year.
The Olympic flame will be touched on April 16, and the eyes of the world will be on Ancient Olympia, as it begins its journey to Paris.
The leading priestess will be played by actress Marie Mina, who will for the first time use a hollow mirror to light the flame. “It is a great honor for me. I hope I will live up to the trust you have placed in me,” Mina said while presenting the ceremony at the Greek Olympic Committee Coliseum, adding: “I am very lucky to take charge now.”
This will not be the only change, because as it became known, there will also be a new music composer, while the priestess and priestesses will wear new clothes designed by the world-famous Greek designer Mary Katrantzou, which will be in black and red. Mary Katrantzou, best known on the international fashion scene for her imaginative prints, often incorporates elements of Greek history and culture into her collections, and her designs now enjoy international fame. For the new vestments of the priests and the presidency, Mary Katrantzou was inspired by ancient Greek Ionian-style capitals. She succeeds in bringing Greek history into the year 2024, as her black and white drawings perfectly reflect the history and importance of the institution.
