Thanks to the unconventional open-ear design combined with very good autonomy and smart functionality, the FreeClip headphones target a new generation of listeners who want awareness of the situation around them, with the best possible sound quality.
The element that initially stands out about the Huawei FreeClip is definitely the original form factor. Featuring an over-ear clip secured with a clever C-bridge mechanism, the FreeClips are a radical departure from the traditional canal buds that flood the TWS space today.
The discrete approach does not cover the entire ear canal, allowing ambient noise in to make the user aware of the nearby environment. As the company specifically stated, its new headphones are particularly suitable for outdoor fitness enthusiasts or professionals who switch between virtual meetings and in-person conversations.
The FreeClip frame itself has an ergonomic fit. An oval “bean”-like area hugs the ears securely and comfortably even during long listening periods thanks to adaptive compression. Therefore, even in sudden movements, the headphones seem to be positioned in such a way that it is very difficult or impossible for them to fall from the user’s head, especially during vigorous exercise. There is also protection against water (splash) and dust, supporting the IP54 waterproof standard. There is still the possibility of suppressing noise from the wind.
The smart functions of the Huawei FreeClip include something we see for the first time in this category, which is the separation between the left and right earbuds. With the Smart Wear function, the headphones adjust themselves based on how you wear them, which is seamless.
FreeClips include highly sensitive drivers as well as a unique reverse sound wave system. Together, these elements significantly enhance the sound level without distortion. According to Huawei, “You can fully enjoy multi-layered melodies while preventing annoying sound leakage.”
In terms of autonomy, the FreeClips are also impressive with more than 8 hours of continuous operation on a single charge, while if we add the charging case, this time exceeds 36 hours.
Huawei FreeClips is expected to be released on the Greek market in September at a price of 199 euros.
