Crowds on the temporarily closed Mesogeion Avenue at the height of the Mint Roma Protests erupted over the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy by a police officer in Thessaloniki.
Incidents took place earlier on Mesogeion Avenue, above Mint, by Roma protesting the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy in Thessaloniki by a DIAS police officer. Those who had gathered from a nearby camp set fire to buckets and the situation escalated after 14:00, closing the descent of Mesogion.

The crowd burnt tires and tanks and the fire brigade and OPKE rushed to the spot. The fire engine that tried to reach the spot was hit by stones and left the place.

After 1:30 p.m., the tension at the scene started to ease, the left lane of the road was opened to traffic, and then Mesogion was opened to traffic.
