The end of the era of tickets in mass transportation.
New habits and customs in our transportation with Mesa, where paper tickets will instantly become a thing of the past.
According to a report by ERT, smartphones will be the first (and last) reason for riding public transportation via NFC.
With the contactless transaction system, the user will not need to issue a ticket from the machines, but it will be enough to verify his bank card or mobile phone at the verification machines.
The main goal, of course, is to combat those who enter the media without a ticket and cost the state coffers millions of euros.
According to OASA CEO, George Spiliopoulos, by the end of the year, the contactless transaction system will be implemented on airport buses, and based on planning, the goal is to implement it everywhere by spring 2024.
How will the new system work?
Travelers will purchase fares using e-wallets from mobile phones in conjunction with the appropriate application (eg Google Pay).
The system in question will allow secure access to selected customer accounts for digital transactions, point-of-sale equipment, verification machines (in buses, trams and metro stations) and card readers at passenger transit gates (in metro stations).
