The relevant code will now be filled in based on how much battery the device already has. The battery percentage is still displayed inside the icon, causing some backlash, but now the whole implementation looks much closer to what it should have been from the start.

The improved screen isn’t the only update to battery health. In iOS 16.1 beta 2, we still see the battery percentage displayed above the time on the lock screen when the user starts charging their devices.
