The new app is designed to deliver a “faster, more reliable, and more streamlined gaming experience,” according to an EA post on her official blogWith features like automatic game downloads and background updates.
For players currently using Origin, they will “soon” be asked to proceed with app replacement. “By the time you receive your invitation, all of your games and content, including those already installed, will be ready and waiting for you in the EA app,” the company says. Your friends list and history are among the data that will be transferred to the new application. If you don’t want to wait, you can download the app directly from the EA website by clicking here.
The app has been in the works for a long time, with EA first announcing that it would replace Origin with a new app two years ago. The company has recently begun to gradually move away from the Origin brand, as when it renamed its services EA Access and Origin Access, with EA Play.
However, Origin isn’t quite dead yet, as macOS players will still have to use the Origin app to play their games. There’s no set timeline for whether or when this will change, but “as we move forward with the various changes, we’ll have more information to share with you in the coming months,” EA says in a separate blog post.
