Her fans Nintendo Famiboards and Reddit believe they have revealed all the technical specifications of the Japanese giant’s upcoming console, Nintendo Switch 2. The big discovery was made by analyzing shipping and customs data allegedly linked to NVIDIA and Nintendo. Eager fans have pored over these files, revealing details of testing new parts and development kits with codes that don’t match any existing Nintendo Switch models.
Somehow, we learned that the Nintendo Switch 2 might include two 6GB LPDDR5 memory modules, at 7,500MB/s, along with 256GB of universal flash storage (UFS 3.1). These specifications indicate a very significant improvement in memory and storage compared to the current generation.
Simply put, the Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to come with 12GB of RAM. In other words, the memory will be tripled from the current model’s 4GB! Below you can find all the results regarding the specifications and some system performance estimates based on them, as compiled by X user ‘@okami13_’.
Technical specifications for the Nintendo Switch 2 according to the new leak:
12GB LPDDR5X RAM
256 GB UFS 3.1 internal storage space
1536 CUDA cores, 48 tensor cores, 12 RT cores
Ampere architecture with features adapted from the Ada architecture
ARM A78C octa-core processor
Special mechanisms to speed up file decompression operations
Initial estimates of Nintendo Switch 2 performance:
In handheld mode, the console will outperform the PS4, before considering how much help DLSS can provide.
In docked mode, performance will be somewhere between the PS4 Pro and Xbox Series S, before considering how much DLSS can help.
The console’s RAM is slower than that of the PS5 and Xbox Series
The theoretical maximum performance of UFS 3.1 storage is 2.1 GB/s, which is slightly lower than the Xbox Series
At this point, it should be noted that information about these upgrades is still unconfirmed. Similar rumors have surfaced in the past, with talk surrounding potential memory configurations for the new console ranging from 8GB to 16GB. So, while the data paints an overall interesting picture for the Nintendo Switch 2, it would be wise to take it with a grain of salt until official announcements are made.
