An Ohio mother has been charged with the murder of her 16-month-old daughter, whom she left home alone for 10 full days while she went on vacation to Puerto Rico.
Christelle A. was called. Candelario, 31, was charged last week with first-degree murder, while also being charged with murder and child endangerment.
Prosecutors alleged that Candelario left the child “alone and unattended” at her home in Cleveland on June 6 to go on vacation to Detroit and Puerto Rico and did not return until the morning of June 16. Authorities say they called police after finding the child unresponsive when they returned.
Cleveland Police and Fire Department immediately responded to the call and when they arrived on scene they said the victim was “severely dehydrated.” Meanwhile it turned out that he died.

Three days after the trip, the mother shared a photo of herself standing casually on the sandy beach.
“The time we enjoy is truly the time we live,” she commented on her Facebook post.
“It is unconscionable for a mother to leave her 16-month-old child alone without any supervision for 10 days to go on vacation,” District Attorney Michael O’Malley said in a statement.
“As parents, we are supposed to protect and take care of our children,” O’Malley emphasized.
“The thought of this child suffering, in the last days of his life, alone, is truly terrifying and we will do everything in our power to achieve justice on his behalf.”
