With the Nord CE 3 Lite 5G, OnePlus has emphasized providing technical features that are not usually found in this price range.
The new model – which has been in our hands for a while – succeeds the Nord CE 2 Lite released exactly one year ago, with the company once again choosing the same SoC for its internals, namely the Snapdragon 695. To increase performance, the company emphasizes other points such as charging The fastest but also a better screen and camera
With an emphasis on freight first, the new Nord is equipped with the same freight levels we saw on flagships just a few years ago. So it has 67W SuperVOOC wired charging that completes a full charge in less than 40 minutes, while an 80% charge requires half an hour. As we can see on other OnePlus models, the Nord CE 3 Lite 5G package also includes the charger.
Continuing to charge, OnePlus refers to its “endurance” technology which includes various software and hardware improvements for longer battery life. This one has a capacity of 5,000mAh, and according to OnePlus, it lasts for at least 1,600 charge cycles before you notice significant wear. An additional 12 temperature sensors around the body of the phone ensure that the battery does not overheat.
OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite also features a larger screen than its predecessor. It’s a 6.72-inch IPS display that occupies more than 91% of the front surface and features global DC dimming, which helps reduce strain on the user’s eyes. In addition, the screen can achieve a maximum refresh rate of up to 120Hz and can be adjusted incrementally depending on the content you are watching. Depending on the modes, the refresh rate can be switched between 30Hz, 60Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60/90Hz, and 90/120Hz depending on the content displayed on the screen. With this and the performance and efficiency improvements made in the embedded OxygenOS 13.1 (Based on Android 13), menu navigation is smooth without delay with instant response.
On either side of the screen – above and below – are the speakers, OnePlus promises superior stereo performance over its predecessor. In fact, OnePlus offers the Ultra Volume 200% function that allows for a fuller sound without distortion, while it should be noted that the new Nord is one of the very few smartphones on the market that includes a 3.5mm headphone port.
One of the significant improvements of the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite over last year’s model is the resolution of the main camera. In a move not too different from the competition, OnePlus has included a 108MP (f/1.75) sensor, with pixel binning dropping the resolution to 12MP while retaining the best elements from all of its shots. The extra resolution also means OnePlus can offer a lossless zoom function, which crops the image while preserving most of the detail (or at least, that’s what the company claims). The main camera comes with a depth sensor and a low-resolution 2MP macro camera.
OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite comes in a version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. As we can see on other models from the company, it uses the virtual RAM function to borrow some phone storage as RAM to keep background tasks running. OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite will be available for purchase in Europe at a price of 320 euros, while in our country it is expected to be launched soon.
