Visually, it’s very similar to its predecessor, with a noticeably large circular camera module running across the back, without the company relying on the design of its first foldable smartphone, the OnePlus Open. However, OnePlus has implemented a notable change by moving the alert bar from the right side to the left side.
According to OnePlus, the move to the company’s signature “switch” feature is due to upgrading the antennas inside during gaming, so that there is no problem with reception when users hold the phone horizontally. The company uses a highly compact full-band antenna system and specially integrated Alert Slider antenna technology to minimize taking up additional space.
OnePlus claims that based on internal lab tests, the dedicated antenna placement improves signal strength by 3dB and reduces gaming latency by 15% compared to the OnePlus 11. Additionally, OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 12 will be available in Pale Green and Stone Black colors And white. Color variants at launch, with the green color being inspired by nature and called “Flowy Emerald”.
The company also reconfirmed that the device will feature a periscope camera with 4x optical zoom capabilities, supported by Hasselblad algorithm improvements. Between the new camera, upgraded antennas, and distinct color options, the OnePlus 12 looks to be an interesting update to last year’s model, albeit with a familiar overall aesthetic. We expect to learn more on December 5 during the company’s 10-year anniversary celebration.
