His derby didn’t start out well Panathenaiko With the Eek in street. Early on at Gate 13, where the die-hard Clover fans are, a banner was displayed (not raised) referring to the Bad Blue Boys, the Dinamo Zagreb fans who carried out the deadly New Philadelphia attack that claimed the life of boyfriend Ake. Michael Katsuri.
Once the sign was noticed by the residents of Ek, who alerted the authorities ahead of time, they made it clear that they would not fight if the sign in question was opened. The banner that was hanging on the horseshoe was not posted until the teams entered. The sign bearing the slogan of Section 13 and the Bad Blue Boys read “Free the Boys.”
AEK had informed the home team, the chiefs of the police force, the Premier League and the Attorney General that it would withdraw if it was opened. “With this logo open, AEK does not compete. We consider it provocative, insulting and vulgar,” the federation said.
As the teams entered the stadium, Panathinaikos fans raised the banner with green and blue smoke bombs and shortly after the AEK people ordered the team to leave. The Al-Ittihad and Almeida players gathered on the bench, formed a huddle and talked for a few minutes before leaving for the locker room.
The Panathinaikos fans then pulled down the banner and the AEK players returned to the pitch to deliver the derby cross.
