Panathinaikos beat AEK Larnaca 3-1 at the Leoforo Stadium in their best performance in the pre-season friendly, playing some impressive football at times.
The hero of the match was Tasos Bakasetas who scored two very beautiful goals with shots from outside the area, and Giorgos Vagiannidis closed the score. AEK’s score was made 2-1 with an own goal by Mladenovic.
Diego Alonso used a number of different players in the match and it was the first time we saw some of the Uruguayan coach’s philosophy such as high pressing and winning the ball back immediately.
Panathinaikos opened the scoring through Tasos Bakaseta in the 9th minute of the match, after the ball was cleared by the AEK Larnaca defence, and the Greek midfielder controlled well and fired a wonderful left-footed shot from outside the penalty area, scoring in a dazzling manner.
And in the 50th minute, again with Bacasita with a terrible left-footed shot from outside the area, making the score 2-0 for the Greens, who performed very well from the middle of the field at times.
In the 86th minute, AEK Larnaca reduced the score to 2-1 with an own goal scored by Mladenovic, before Panathinaikos responded immediately a minute later with a wonderful shot by Giorgos Vagiannidis in front of the Cypriot team’s goalkeeper, scoring the third goal. -1.
