The Ministry of Finance has given two months for vehicle owners to pay the 2023 road tax. What is the deadline for payment without a fine?
In his statement, Mr. Vesiropoulos said: “Following a series of interventions by the Government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis with the aim of facilitating the payment of Greek taxes, we are proceeding with the two-month extension for the payment of tolls for the year 2023 and the voluntary fixation of vehicles, so that everyone has the opportunity to fulfill this obligation.”
How to pay the road tax 2023
And this year, it includes a road tax notice QR code. By scanning this code, vehicle owners can easily pay the road tax through mobile banking, without writing the payment code and amount.

On the myCar platform, vehicle owners have two options:
in a firstUnder “Vehicle Tolls”, vehicle owners/owners can inform them of the following:
- information about their cars,
- their fee payment codes,
- Payment codes in an excel spreadsheet, in case of multiple vehicles
- Obtaining a certificate for the vehicles they own to be used in transporting and exporting vehicles abroad, and re-registering the vehicle
Potential debt for 2017 road tax
in a Secondlytitled “Digital/Traffic Standstill,” vehicle owners/owners can do the following:

Road tax 2023 – who is exempt
Full exemption from road tax applies to parents of disabled minor children. The exemption is valid until the disabled person reaches the age of majority for one car. Adults with disabilities are also exempted from toll fees in the following cases:
- Complete paralysis of the lower or upper extremities or bilateral amputation.
- Severe mobility impairment of one or both lower extremities with a total disability rate of 67%.
- Severe motor disability in one or both lower extremities involving one or both upper extremities, with a total disability rate of not less than 67% of which at least 40% is from one lower extremity.
- Total blindness in both eyes with a disability rate of 100%.
- Mentally retarded with an IQ of less than 40.
- Mediterranean anemia or congenital bleeding (haemophilia).
- Sickle cell anemia or small sickle cell anemia
- End-stage renal failure or kidney transplantation
- Autism, as long as it is accompanied by epileptic seizures, mental retardation, or psycho-organic syndrome, and due to the diseases of these diseases, the person becomes disabled with a total disability rate of 67% and needs assistance.
Meanwhile, until the end of December, those who wish to immobilize their cars can submit their license plates electronically. With the “electronic immobility” process, vehicle owners do not need to visit the tax office.
With an electronic application that includes the exact details of the city, the street and the number of the vehicle’s stopping point, the relevant procedure is completed.
