Arantes had no contact with the environment for five years, so She never learned of her son’s death in December 2022.
The Pele Foundation confirmed that the player’s mother was a role model. The Associated Press reports.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of ‘Celestinia’ as her son affectionately called her. At the same time, we are eternally grateful for her presence,” the foundation said, describing her as the “Queen Mother” who “we will forever remember fondly in our hearts and memories.”
the Edson Arantes in NascimentoPele, as Pele’s real name, was one of Arantes’ three sons. She was initially against her son becoming a professional footballer, but gradually changed her mind as her son became more successful.
