There has been an explosion in participation in support programs for households to save energy.
More specifically, we are talking about “rooftop photovoltaics” and “recycling – water heater change”.
Applications are pouring into the two platforms as thousands of consumers claim subsidies either to install solar power generation systems or to replace conventional water heaters with new solar ones.

water heaters
There are approximately 290,000 applications claiming benefits related to recycling a conventional water heater by replacing it with a new solar heater.
Indeed, from May 11, when the platform https://allazothermosifona.gov.gr/ was opened until last week, 280,724 applications had been submitted. The application deadline is June 20th.
The specified program budget is 100 million euros. It is estimated that in order to fulfill the approximately 290,000 requests, resources amounting to €300 million would be required.
The final selection of beneficiaries will result from a combination of economic and social criteria:
Average annual income for each family member.
Families with disabled members.
Single-parent families with at least one dependent child.
Families with dependent members.
the support
The subsidy is up to 60% of the purchase cost of each new solar water heater. Each beneficiary will receive a voucher, which they can redeem at a supplier of their choice.
Installation costs are also included in the maximum grant amount for recipients.
The final value of each check depends on the solar water heater’s characteristics (hot water tank capacity) and the purchase price.
“photovoltaic cells on the roof”
According to the data received so far in the “Rooftop photovoltaics” program since May 2 – when the platform opened – 11,478 applications have been submitted and 6,293 grants have already been approved in the reserved amount of €63.8 million.
It is noteworthy that the total budget of the program, which remains open until resources run out (the maximum end of June), is 238 million euros.
The 6,293 grants are distributed as follows:
1. The 1,218 families relate to vulnerable families.
2- The 3,424 citizens relate to an individual income of less than 20,000 euros or a family income of 40,000 euros.
3. The 1,200 citizens with an individual income of more than 20,000 euros or a family income of more than 40,000 euros.
4. All 451 applications are related to farmers.
Photovoltaic system subsidies start at 45% and reach 75% for households. The corresponding percentages for farmers are 40% – 60%, while the total subsidy for a battery-equipped photovoltaic system can reach 16,000 euros for households and 10,000 euros for farmers.
