The new model offers improved health and fitness tracking features, longer battery life, and improved integration with Google services. It also features a case made of 100% recycled aluminum, highlighting its eco-friendly materials.
The Pixel Watch 2 has a wide range of health and fitness tracking features, including advanced sensors to monitor heart rate and blood oxygen levels much more accurately this year. It also offers a continuous electrical activity (cEDA) and skin temperature sensor, borrowed from Fitbit (Google-owned) smartwatches like the Sense 2. The sensors are designed to monitor stress levels and suggest activities like recording emotions or guided breathing exercises when a change occurs. has been revealed. The watch also provides automatic training tracking and training according to heart rate zones.
While the new model shares many features with its predecessor, there are some notable changes. The crown is larger and more in line with the case, while the watch straps have been redesigned to be lighter and more comfortable, while maintaining compatibility with the previous model’s switching mechanism.
Google’s machine learning capabilities have also been integrated into the Pixel Watch 2, providing better information about the wearer’s health and habits. This AI feature will soon be available through Fitbit Labs to provide further analysis of health data.
The Pixel Watch 2 runs Wear OS 4 and includes new features like Safety Check, which allows users to share their location with loved ones. It also provides an emergency sharing feature to broadcast real-time location to trusted contacts in case of an emergency. Users can now interact with Gmail and Google Calendar directly from their wrist while the watch offers enhanced smart home integration with Google’s suite of compatible products and apps.
Inside, the Pixel Watch 2 uses Qualcomm’s new quad-core Snapdragon Wear 5100 SoC, paired with a Cortex M33 coprocessor, 32GB eMMC flash memory, and 2GB of RAM. The new chip promises power efficiency rather than a speed upgrade. The battery capacity has been increased slightly to 306 mAh, reducing the full charging time by five minutes compared to the previous model. Google promises that the watch can last for 24 hours on a single charge with the display always on.
Despite these new features, many aspects remain unchanged from the previous model. The case size (41mm) and height (12.3mm) remain the same, but the new model is five grams lighter. Gorilla Glass 5 has been redesigned but remains similar to the previous version, covering the 320 ppi AMOLED display with DCI-P3 color and protecting it from scratches. The brightness reaches 1000 nits while we see no change in connectivity, indicating the presence of Bluetooth 5.0 and not a newer version.
The Pixel Watch 2 is available for pre-order in several countries (but not Greece), starting at $349 for the WiFi model, and Google is also offering an LTE version. It launches next week and those who buy it will get a free six-month subscription to Fitbit Premium.
