PlayStation Plus is known for offering older first-party games for free on the subscription service.
This means that players who pay for PS Plus can play a variety of previously released games without having to purchase them separately. This is a huge benefit of the service, as it allows players to try out games they might not have bought otherwise, or replay favorite games from the past.
However, fans were shocked to note that Horizon: Zero Dawn, one of the most popular games, would be leaving PS Plus. On the PlayStation Store, Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition will be removed from the PS Plus Extra catalog on May 21, 2024.
A remake of The Horizon: Zero Dawn has been rumored for years
Sony has been rumored for years to be developing a remake of Horizon: Zero Dawn, which, if true, would justify pulling the original game from PS Plus. Horizon: Zero Dawn was released in 2017 to critical acclaim and gamers alike.
The game has a Metacritic rating of 89/100, based on 124 reviews, as well as a rating of 8.4/10 from over 13,000 user reviews. The game takes place in the future where humans coexist with dinosaur-like robots.
Players assume the role of Aloy, a young fighter who uncovers the secrets of the ancient world by exploring the vast open world.
The Complete Edition replaced the original game by including the “Frozen Wilds” DLC expansion and other items. After Zero Dawn, developer Guerrilla Games released a sequel in 2022, Horizon: Forbidden West, which continues Aloy’s story.
Following the release of Forbidden West, the first game was updated to run at 60 frames per second when playing on PS5. Both games are also available on PC, so players can also check them out on Steam or the Epic Games Store.
