Proposal to set salary cap in basketball league without informing Panathinaikos

Proposal to set salary cap in basketball league without informing Panathinaikos

AEK raised the issue of the salary cap in the basketball league by sending a written proposal to nine other teams, but not to Panathinaikos – Olympiacos. What is the danger to the championship’s TV. Sport24 reveals.

The Stoiximan Basket League salary cap also wants teams to be in this category, with AEK setting as a condition that the budget cap be €8m.

Greek club AEK sent a letter with its proposal to nine teams in the first division, without including Panathinaikos and Olympiacos among the beneficiaries.

This makes sense, as no team in the Stoiximan Basket League can match or even come close to that number. But on the other hand, this would be a very small budget for a data pod targeting the top of Europe.

Of course, imitating what the Euroleague wants to do, they allow a budget greater than 8 million euros, provided that there is a luxury tax, which will be shared between the other teams.

If the necessary signatures are collected, the proposal will be submitted to ESAKE to pass the salary cap issue.

However, in the document there is no indication of the minimum budget, but only the maximum.

Whatever the case, this move, which was made without involving and informing Panathinaikos and Olympiacos, could cause serious problems with TV rights and central management.

Because all the audit heads were meeting to get money from the channels and maybe this move by some other teams in the basketball league, will lead to a division and each of them will discuss on their own about the agreement for the next season.
