The cyclone that hit Serres, Trikala and Kalamata on Saturday afternoon caused heavy damage to crops.
In fact, due to the intensity of the storm in Kalamada, trees were uprooted, umbrellas were broken and shops were damaged.
Fortunately, there were no casualties and shortly after 17:30 a large tamarind tree was uprooted and fell on a car that was crossing Salaminos Street in Marina Kalamata at the time.
A tree fell on the vehicle requiring the assistance of the fire department to rescue the driver. Firefighters were able to cut down part of the tree and fortunately the vehicle suffered little material damage. In fact, the tree uprooted part of the sidewalk.
According to messinialive.gr, the passengers were not injured, however, for precautionary reasons, they were taken to the Kalamata Hospital, while a team from the Municipality of Kalamata rushed to the scene and removed the tree from the road.
However, this incident was not the only one, the beach park also suffered damage to two ozos located behind Gerfiroplastica due to falling trees.
According to ERT, in fact, the crews sitting at the scene were actually saved at the last moment. Also, significant damage was done to a shop on the “cart track” of Kalamata’s west coast.

Heavy storms hit Platanos, Rijoma and Ardanio on Saturday afternoon.
According to information given to trikalaola.gr by residents of the village of Platanos, describing the scale of the disaster, Burini attacked tobacco crops and vines. It tore off the roofs of houses and sheds, while trees were broken.
