Resolution: The price of souvlaki also rises significantly – its price exceeds 4 euros – Newsbomb – News

Accuracy: In about two years, the average price of a skewer has risen by one euro.

For decades souvlaki has been one of the tastiest and most economical fast foods in Greece. However, for several years its price has been constantly rising. And as everything shows, it is now ready to break the €4 “barrier”.

It is no coincidence that its average price has risen by one euro in two years – from the 2.5 euros it was in 2021, today it has reached 3.5 euros.

In many stores now one has to pay 4 euros for the cover – something that has become the norm. As professionals say, the constant increases in raw materials have caused their prices to skyrocket – and, they say, there is nothing they can do to prevent this.

However, this does not mean that they are not looking for options so that they can lower its price, even if they have to reduce its materials. Somehow, the suggestion that souvlaki should have a different price depending on the ingredients, for example one with potatoes and another without, fell on the table.

Is there a (cheap) solution?

A few days ago, Newsbomb.gr contacted the president of the Association of Grill Sellers and Souvlaki Manufacturers of Attica, Nikos Angelosoulis, to learn about the precision of souvlaki, but also to find out how to find more economical solutions.

The success trilogy, as he tells us, is: “Price – Quality – Service”. While he added that, given the high prices, he advised his colleagues to continue preparing the meat themselves and to stand on their own by bringing people to their stores.
