Rhodes: How EYP arrived at the arrest of the Syrian leader of a migrant smuggling ring – €5,000 per person charge

Since the spring, according to information from iefimerida, EYP authorities have been processing information about 44-year-old Chiros, the mastermind of an illegal immigrant smuggling gang, in which his son also participated.

According to well-informed sources, a well-known figure in the area was a promoter of “ultra-luxury” transportation and used the pseudonym “Abu Hamza”.

Siros, according to the same sources, coordinated “spectators” at the locations of the kidnappings, while his son was responsible for coordinating the drivers of the vehicles transporting the kidnapped persons. In fact, the toll reached 4,500 to 5,000 euros, as the transport was carried out by speedboats or boats.

The 44-year-old and his son have been in our country since last winter, and he applied for asylum at the end of 2023. Until then, for at least two years, he was active on the Turkish coast, smuggling illegal immigrants from there to our country, especially to Rhodes.

However, realizing that his actions might be exposed, he decided to come to our country. Following an operation by the Coast Guard, he was arrested at a villa in Rhodes, where his 16-year-old son was also found and arrested, while a similar operation was carried out at two safe houses, where illegal immigrants, various fake passports and documents were found.
