A 19-year-old infantry soldier has been referred to military justice after he and two other young men were involved in a deadly incident outside a popular nightclub in Lindos, Rhodes, with a 22-year-old Italian tourist.
The cause of the serious accident, when the three men, aged 19, 20 and a 19-year-old serving a sentence on the island, collided with the young man, has not yet been confirmed. The Italian woman was driving at around 4:30 a.m. on August 15. But the first man hit the 22-year-old on the head with a glass, which required him to be taken to Rhodes General Hospital for first aid.
The police officers of the Archangelos district, who arrived at the scene immediately, arrested the two young men (20 years old) and (19 years old) on the spot, and found in their possession a knife with a nine-centimeter blade, while the soldier found a knife. He was searched for in southern Rhodes, where he lives, but was not found. After contacting his family and the officers’ club, he turned himself in to the authorities, was arrested and referred to the military prosecution. The three are accused of causing bodily harm.
