The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation placed General Sergei Sorovikin in command of all Russian military forces participating in UkraineAs stated in his announcement today.
The change follows the removal, as reported earlier this week, of two commanders from a total of five military orders from Russia.
Max Schendon, director of the Financial Times’ Moscow bureau, notes that the new governor has moved from Syria He directed Russian military operations there.
At the same time, the British Ministry of Defense assures that even by the standards of the Russian army, it is very corrupt and brutal.

Who is Sergei Vladimirovich Surovikin?
Surovkin is 55 years old and was born in Novosibirsk in the former Soviet Union.
During his 35-year career in the Russian Army, he was awarded the title “Hero of the Russian Federation” (or simply “Hero of Russia”).
He was responsible for creating the Main Directorate of Military Police, a new organization within the Russian Army. Surovkin commanded the Eastern Military District between 2013 and 2017 and was presented in the media as the commander of the Syrian task force during the Russian military intervention in that country’s civil war.
He was the commander of Army Group South during the Russian invasion of Ukraine last February.
