Sakis Arnadoklou made his predictions for what the weather will be like during Holy Week, especially from Palm Sunday to Good Friday.
According to the predictions of a well-known forecaster in the ERT3 weather report, the weather will worsen from Saturday and Palm Sunday, but localized rain is expected on Maundy Monday as well.
Finally, the best weather of Holy Week occurs on Thursday.
Saturday weather
According to Sakis Arnautoglou, most of the country will be sunny on Saturday morning with very few local clouds. Local clouds will be present from Thessaly to eastern Peloponnese, slightly denser in eastern Styria.
Thrace will be sunny in the northeast. Clouds remain over the Cyclades and further south to the Dodecanese.
In central and western Macedonia to north-northeast Thessaly, the Gulf of Thermaikos and neighboring areas, i.e. west, north-west Halkidiki and mainly Piraeus, there will be clouds excluding some light localized rain. Northeast to Larissa
Areas of high sunshine will be located in the west and northwest of the country by midday on Saturday. Elsewhere in the country there will be thin clouds increasing in central, continental and island regions.
High clouds from the southern Peloponnese, Crete and the Dodecanese regions, with some local showers starting. Initially in eastern, southeastern Crete to the Carpathians.
In Central Macedonia to Thessaly it will rain until the afternoon, mainly in the mountains and some rain in the evening, in Western Macedonia, in the westernmost parts of Central Macedonia, a little more in Northern Thessaly.
Indeed, some sporadic snowfall above 1,300 m in western Macedonia is not excluded. The rest of northern Greece and the rest of the country will have mainly thin clouds, which will be denser in the south.
Crete and the Dodecanese areas will be cloudier in the evening, with light to moderate showers expected.
Winds will be 3-5 Beaufort.
Temperatures are expected to be 15-17 degrees in the afternoon, 11 to 16 in the north and 17 in the south.
Weather in Attica and Thessaloniki
Clouds will increase temporarily in Attica, but there will be several periods of sunshine from the morning. Clouds will gradually thicken and there may be some localized light rain with little chance over the mountains. Winds will be easterly at 3-4 Beaufort and temperatures will be between 9 and 17 degrees.
We will also have clouds in Thessaloniki, with some localized showers in the afternoon mainly in mountainous and northern areas. In the evening, any rain will move slightly to the west and snow will be temporary above 1,300-1,400m in the hills, Bella, Bairia and Imatiya.
Winds will be 3-4 Beaufort from the East and the temperature will be 8-15 degrees Celsius.
Weather on Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday will start with long spells of sunshine, but there will be some cloud from the afternoon, which will begin to thicken over most of the country.
In central Macedonia and mainly in Pella, Pyreia and Imathia and perhaps up to Thessaloniki and the northern parts of central Macedonia, but mainly in western Macedonia, in the highlands of Epirus, in the eastern part, in Thessaly, Styria and in the eastern parts of the northeastern Peloponnese, clouds will give rain showers and conditions for some local storms will be created.
In the mountainous northwest, the highlands of Epirus, northwestern Thessaly and western Thessaly will have some snow above 1,500 m, possibly some heavy snow.
Crete and the Dodecanese have the highest chance of rain.
The temperature varies between 15-17 degrees
3-5 Winds will be north, northeast at Beaufort.
Weather from Holy Monday
On Monday, there will also be unsettled weather with rain and localized thunderstorms. Although the day will start relatively fine with very little cloud, it will begin to thicken over land and other parts of the country.
Over mountainous central and northern, northwestern Greece and the mountainous Peloponnese and northeastern highlands above 1,400 m, there will be local snow showers, which will be temporarily strong.
Winds will be northwesterly at 4-6 Beaufort, and in the Dodecanese between Rhodes and Castelorizo they will reach 7 Beaufort.
The temperature varies between 14-16 degrees and up to 17 degrees locally
On Holy Tuesday, the events are now mainly located in the eastern regions. There will be many periods of fine weather with some clouds and mostly sunny spells. In the mountainous Peloponnese and Styria there may be a few short showers between afternoon and afternoon.
Crete and the Dodecanese may see some more rain, as well as mountainous Thrace.
Wind will be northwesterly at 5-6 Beaufort.
Temperatures can even rise to 18 degrees in continental areas.
On Holy Wednesday, new clouds will create localized phenomena in various areas, mainly in the mountainous regions of the mainland and some coastal areas.
In fact, the mercury will approach 19-20 degrees inland on Holy Wednesday.
The weather improves on Maundy Thursday and Holy Week will be fine weather with sunshine everywhere.
There will be some instability in the west and northwest of the country from noon on Good Friday.
