A court in Albania today ordered the former president and prime minister to be placed under house arrest Sally Berisha Following corruption accusations leveled against him during his time in power. “The court accepted the prosecution’s request to change a previous procedure and has now ordered that (Berisha) be placed under house arrest without the possibility of leaving the country,” Berisha’s lawyer, Cenk Gyokutai, said after the court’s decision. Berisha will appeal the decision, Gyokutai said. The former prime minister denies the prosecution's allegations and accuses current Prime Minister Edi Rama of launching a political attack to silence the opposition.
