The debate on equality in civil marriage ends today (15/2) in Parliament and despite the broad consensus gathered by the bill in question, objections have been registered.
During tonight's roll call vote, the differences are expected to be expressed even more emphatically by voting against or abstaining from the practice.
Giorgos Kapoutzidis and Fotis Sergoulopoulos in Parliament
Actor and screenwriter Giorgos Kapoutzidis and presenter Fotis Sergoulopoulos sat in the galleries of Parliament this afternoon.
They were part of the debate on the Bill “Equality in Civil Marriage, Amendment of the Civil Code and Other Provisions”.
“Whatever you do in your life, you will find a cure for cancer, the moment you are gay you will be considered lower than a murderer, a rapist. Do you understand what our starting point is, what we thought we should root for?”, Giorgos Kaputsidis said on Wednesday.
He described as “lucky” the creator of this bill, Agis Skourtsos, who told the parliament, “Our fellow human beings, with same-sex sexuality, have fewer personal, political or social rights than the majority ».
“It is inhumane to punish and condemn citizens who are different from the majority and who do not harm anyone with their lives or their desires to live in darkness and on the sidelines,” the state minister added.
