According to the first indications, the head of a man aged between 30 and 40 was found at a waste separation plant in Akrotiri, Chania.
The gruesome discovery came to light when workers at the plant opened the black bag and were shocked to see a human head. The bag was on the belt where the mixed waste was deposited as it came to the factory by waste trucks.
Immediately an alarm was sounded, orders were given to stop the work of the unit and the police officers went to the DEDISA factory, for further investigation, to establish the identity of the victim.
As per the verified information, efforts are being made to determine the route taken by the garbage lorry and trace the bag containing the appalling contents.
Apparently, the culprit or culprits have scattered the members of the unfortunate man at various places, making the task of finding them very difficult for the police. Authorities are investigating whether there have been any reported disappearances in recent days to find a starting point for investigations.
It seems that an attempt will be made to open as many bags as possible to find the human remains.
A short time ago, medical examiner Giorgos Mylonakis was discovered at the DEDISA factory in Akrotiri, and he macroscopically established that the head belonged to a man and that his death had occurred within the last 10 days.
