Just days before she lost her battle with cancer, Shannen Doherty posted a final post on her Instagram page talking about undergoing more chemotherapy.
Specifically, on June 15, Shannen Doherty posted a video of the latest episode of her podcast, Let’s Be Clear, captioning the post: “New episode of @letsbeclearpod on @iheartradio or wherever you listen to podcasts. This is what I’m dealing with right now. #cancer #life.”
Shannen Doherty has opened up to her 2.2 million Instagram followers about the uncertainty surrounding her future.
In fact, she admitted: “So, you know, for the first time since I had no idea how long I was going to be in chemotherapy, I had no idea if it was going to be three months or if it was going to be six months.”
The actress went on to say that this new round of treatment has been “terrifying.” “The treatment is very difficult. It’s not something I can predict. It’s not something my doctors can predict and it’s scary. It’s a huge wake-up call, but at the same time I have to say there’s a silver lining, and the silver lining is that the molecular makeup of my cancer cells has recently changed.
“That means there are a lot of protocols that I can try. So, for the first time in two months, I feel hopeful because there are now a lot of protocols. Whereas before I was optimistic, I was still preparing.”
The American star died at the age of 53 after a long battle with cancer.
She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. The cancer was in remission for two years, but in 2020 she revealed that she had stage 4 breast cancer.
In June 2023, the actress informed the public that the cancer had spread to her brain.
