Order the cake and arrange for an Instacart driver to pick it up and deliver it to Nike headquarters. the driver, Dennis BaldwinShe told Insider she was “very shocked” when she saw the cake.

“I really wasn’t expecting such a beautifully detailed resume on a cake,” Baldwin said. “I’ve never seen this before,” he added.

Blackburn explained to Dwayne via the Instacart app that she was fired and was craving a job at Valiant Labs. For her part, Baldwin promised to put the cake in Myers’ hands.

Baldwin took it upon herself to navigate the Nike campus, find her way through a party, and find Myers—all with a cake and her 8-month-old son. She mentioned that security told her she could leave the cake at the front desk, where they would put Myers’ name on it.

I refused. Wanting to make sure Blackburn’s resume got to Myers in person, she waited at the reception desk with her son until Myers was called.

Baldwin recalls that when Myers arrived, he described the cake as “beautiful” and said he didn’t want to cut it. Send a photo to Blackburn to confirm the task is complete.

“I sent it to Carly to confirm so she knows he’s gone to exactly the person she wants and she can have peace of mind knowing the cake has arrived at its destination,” Baldwin said.

“She was waiting for him to come and give it to Mac and put the cake in the right place, all while holding her son in one hand and the cake in the other,” said Blackburn. “I don’t know how he did it. It was amazing. It’s crazy.”

Baldwin told Insider that she treats every delivery with the same dedication and service, because that’s how she was brought up.

“I did what I normally do and made sure he got there,” Baldwin said. “But I think I did more here, because I knew it was a resume and he really wanted this job. And I knew that if it was me and I wanted to go to Nike, I would want someone to make the time and put in the effort.”

Although Baldwin and Blackburn did not meet face to face, they became friends from a distance. Baldwin, who is pregnant with three children, said Blackburn offered her mentorship.

“We talk every day, we text,” Baldwin said. “Find out that I don’t have a computer and I do everything on my phone, so he sent me a computer.”

Blackburn said she is still looking for a job that matches her and has spoken to several companies since she posted her cake on LinkedIn. She said maintaining her confidence in her job search made her resilient.

“Other people have reached out to me and texted me about how this inspired them,” Blackburn said.

He added, “It’s hard to keep receiving rejections one by one. But the point is that You just have to believe in yourself and know that you are great and that you have great skills and qualities to offer to any company or job you are applying for. Then the right match will happen.”
