Shooting in Nea Smyrni Square

Two men of Albanian origin were killed and a 35-year-old woman was slightly wounded, according to the latest accounts of a murderous attack on a coffee bar in Nea Smyrni Square on Sunday night. One of the two victims received a bullet in the head, with the attack, according to police sources, referring to a mafia execution, reported by skai.gr.

According to the first information from police sources, after 21:30, a man wearing a surgical mask suddenly appeared in front of the bar and started shooting. He absconded after officials talked about fixing scores.

A heavy police force was rushed to the spot, while a large area has been cordoned off. The Attica Security Directorate is conducting a preliminary investigation into the case.

Based on initial information, the alleged assailant appears to have had a specific target when he shot two men of Albanian origin, aged 41 and 44. According to the first data collected by the police, the accused was alone and was hiding behind the bushes. He then went to the front of the coffee bar and opened fire.

One of the two men died on the spot after receiving two bullets to the head, while the second was shot once in the chest and was hospitalized. During the incident, a 37-year-old woman sitting at a nearby table was also injured in the stomach and is being treated at the “Red Cross”.

At the same time, he received a very minor wound, and a man who started firing, tried to escape in fear, but stumbled and hit him on the head. However, he was not admitted to the hospital.

Police have launched a manhunt to find the executioner in a surgical mask, while a security team is collecting video footage from the shops on March 25. Police sources confirm that the accused and his movements have been recorded.

Residents reported hearing at least five gunshots.
