On August 2, applications for the Social Household Tariff (CTO) for electricity for the next 12 months began.
The social household tariff is 4.5-7.5 cents per kilowatt-hour (depending on the beneficiary category) lower than the regular tariff of the service provider concerned. In other words, a significant discount is guaranteed to those who are entitled to it.
When is the deadline for the social family tariff?
The deadline for submitting applications ends one month after the end of the tax filing period, which for this year is September 2.
Beneficiaries of the social family tariff
A. There are two categories of beneficiaries:
A. CTO A includes those who meet the conditions for granting social solidarity income.
B. CTO B includes those who meet the following conditions:
- They have an actual or calculated total annual income, within the limits of the table we publish.
For a household with one or more persons with a disability of sixty-seven percent (67%) or more, the income limits increase by €8,000.
For a household that also includes a person or persons who need mechanical support using medical devices, which are provided at home and are necessary for their life, the income limits are increased by 15,000 euros.
An amount of 4,500 euros is added for each additional adult and 2,250 euros for each additional minor, up to a total limit of 31,500 euros regardless of the number of family members. The upper limit (31,500 euros) is increased by 8,000 euros for a family that includes a person or persons with a disability of sixty-seven percent (67%) or more and by 15,000 euros for a family that also includes a person or persons who require mechanical support using medical devices available at home and necessary for their life.
- The family members themselves own real estate, in Greece or abroad, with a total taxable value of up to €120,000 for a single-person household, increasing by €15,000 for each additional member and up to a maximum of €180,000.
- Family members are exempt from luxury tax provisions and do not declare living expenses for yacht crew fees, private school fees, domestic helpers, drivers, teachers and other staff.
b. The application to join the CTO is submitted every year to re-check the conditions for joining it. Applications are submitted electronically through IDIKA, by the person responsible for submitting the family income tax return or his/her spouse, provided that the electricity source is already in the name of the responsible person or his/her spouse. Each household receives a CTO only for the supply of the main residence.
A. The COT cost is applied to the entire consumption of the four months and up to the corresponding limits stipulated for each category of beneficiaries, which are as follows:
- Single person household 1400 kWh
- 2-adult household or 1-parent household with 1 minor 1600 kWh
- Family of 2 adults and 1 minor or single parent family of 2 minors 1700 kWh
- Family of 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 minors or single parent family of 3 minors 1800 kWh
- Family of 3 adults and 1 minor or 2 adults and 3 minors or Single parent family of 4 minors 1900 kWh
- Family of four adults or two adults and four minors or single-parent family of five minors 2,000 kWh.
- For consumption less than 200 kWh per four months, no KOT discount is calculated.
D. For a household with one or more persons with disabilities of 67% or more, the above-mentioned consumption limits are increased by 300 kWh.
For a household that also includes a person or persons who need mechanical support using medical devices, available at home and necessary for their life, the above-mentioned consumption limits are increased by 600 kWh.
The consumption of 200 kWh is added for each additional adult and 100 kWh for each additional minor, up to a total limit of 2,400 kWh regardless of the number of household members. The specified upper limit (2,400 kWh) is increased by 300 kWh for a household that includes a person or persons with a disability of 67% or more and by 600 kWh for a household that also includes a person or persons who require mechanical support with the use of medical devices available in the home and necessary for their life.
e. The discount is 4.5 cents per kilowatt-hour for KOT B’ beneficiaries and 7.5 cents for KOT A’. It is applied to the daytime or even nighttime consumption fee if the consumer has a night tariff.
