The Ministry of Environment and Energy began providing assistance in the first two months of 2024 to pay electricity bills, with the aim of supporting vulnerable consumers.
This assistance relates to support for families included in the social household tariff (COT).
On the contrary, the countdown has begun to see a discount of 45-480 euros on electricity bills
According to the Ministry of Energy, more than 730,000 families are included in the social household tariff, and the aid provided to them will cover the first two months of 2024, i.e. January and February.
In particular, the financial support for January was set at €26 per MWh and for February at €18 per MWh, respectively, for the beneficiaries' total consumption.
According to the Ministry of Energy, 100% of the increased costs resulting from electricity prices before the crisis will be absorbed through the assistance provided to families included in the social family tariff.
In fact, the total value of financial support for electricity provided to these households exceeds €8.6 million, provided by the Energy Transformation Fund.
The Household Social Tariff (CTO) is a special tariff, offered by all electricity suppliers, for vulnerable groups of consumers.
To be a beneficiary of the KOT deduction, a person must meet all income, property and residence criteria, while there are also consumption limits depending on the type of family, for example a family with two adults or a single-parent family with a minor member, etc.
Applications for inclusion in the CTO are submitted at any time during the year, electronically through the program website using personal access codes for the TAXISnet information system.
Instead of electricity heating
Meanwhile, the countdown has begun for a discount of between 45 and 480 euros on electricity bills for households that applied and met the criteria for a heating allowance.
AADE has begun verifying the data declared by 481,484 families who heat their homes with electricity and have applied to receive emergency financial assistance.
AADE, when it completes the audit, will send the information to DEDDIE who will then communicate it to electricity suppliers in order to apply the subsidy to bills.
The heating allowance of between 45 and 480 euros will appear as a discount on electricity bills (against or adjustment) for the period from January 1 to March 31, 2024.
If the account includes a period of the month, the monthly support is distributed in proportion to the days of the month in question, within the support period.
Then the beneficiaries of the allowance must register on the platform the required details for electricity bills (electricity bill number, total amount/value of the bill, VAT number and name of the supplier, VAT number for the tax) (the beneficiary to whom the bill was issued is the electricity supply number shown in the bill and must It must be consistent with the main residential supply number announced during the request and the consumption period covered by the electricity bill).
The bills are announced gradually as soon as they are issued, and the beneficiary has the right to submit until September 15, 2024, the data for all the bills issued in his favor and related to consumption for the first quarter.
