Ambitious but very impressive at first sight Star Wars: Outlaws It is undoubtedly a dream game for fans and one of the most anticipated games of 2024. It may have been revealed a month ago as part of Summer Game Fest 2023 and Ubisoft Forward, but now we are learning new information through the latest issue of EDGE magazine.
Specifically, the creative director of the title and Massive Entertainment, Julian Gritti She revealed the sizes of the planets that would make up the game’s explorable world and confirmed that each planet would be so large that even if the player traversed it in a hypervelocity vehicle, it would feel like a “journey”. To give a more concrete example, Gerighty compared each planet from Star Wars: Outlaws, which Its size will be comparable to 2-3 regions in the massive Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey map.
As if that wasn’t enough with Massive Planets, he emphasized that each area is “handcrafted” and that Massive did not procedurally generate an entire planet, as previously heard. Want to take a closer look at all the new information released on Outlaws? Here is the list below:
- It focuses on “total freedom of approach” when it comes to encounters with NPCs and enemies.
- Exclusive missions can be accessed through the reputation system at special prices for vendors and closed areas. If you are not on a faction’s good side, they may send people to hunt you down, and the monetary penalty is also part of it.
- Players will not have “total freedom of movement” when it comes to interstellar travel. You will not be able to fly freely over the planet and there will be designated landing and take-off areas.
- Players can direct Nix (the space companion of protagonist Vass) to attack enemies, activate out-of-range switches, cause distractions, and collect heavy weapons from downed enemies. Massive says Nix is like a cross between a Watch Dogs bot, BioShock Infinite Elizabeth, and BD-1 from EA’s Star Wars Jedi games.
- Each planet is designed to be large enough to make the transit feel like a “journey” even in a fast moving craft.
- One planet equals two to three Assassin’s Creed Odyssey regions.
- All locations are “handcrafted” and there are no entire planets created through procedural generation.
- Vass’ Trailblazer boat is inspired by 70’s toys and designed to be “very, very simple”.
- The game takes place between “Empire” and “Jedi”, so Massive can simulate this “feeling”. The studio developed a technique that “mimics some ’70s lenses”.
- The Android ND-5 (Vass Companion) design comes from the prequels.
