the valve Relentlessly continue with major promotions for steam And so after a general UI cleanup and new features that we told you about recently, it’s now been announced that another big improvement is in the works. Specifically, the company intends to correct something that has been educating users for years: search!
In detail, Valve has made a major upgrade to Steam’s search function, making it easier for users to find whatever they’re looking for. The improved search bar now efficiently handles tags, studio names, publishers, and franchisees. By contrast, in the past it only returned hits for specific game titles. At the same time, its behind-the-scenes algorithm has been greatly improved, and so it offers better help for misspellings than before.
The update practically brings Steam categories and tags to the search bar as well, displaying them along with games as users type. Valve confirms that it decided to make these changes after noticing that players are increasingly looking for specific developers, categories, labels or studios.
For example, searching for “dungeon” will now bring up suggested categories such as “dungeon dungeon,” along with games with the word “dungeon” in their title. Thus, users can now easily access broader categories, such as Free to Play Games, which were previously only accessible through the Categories tab.
It should be noted that the update concerns both the Steam desktop app, as well as the mobile app and website.
