His name is intertwined with apple And the Iphone which is an integral part of the life of many people in the world.
his story Steve JobsHowever, he comes to prove that the “weird genius” designation is no accident.
He was born on February 24, 1955, to an American mother and a Syrian father. His parents decided to give him up for adoption, as they were not married and their relationship was causing strong reactions among their families.
Clara and Paul Jobs will become Steve’s adoptive parents, with the only requirement of his biological parents being to send him to university. Steve, of course, proved in the future that he had the opposite opinion because he never finished school.
Years later, Steve, now an adult, would locate his biological sister, Mona Simpson with whom he would develop a special relationship as they had much in common. She even dedicated her book to him, titled “Anywhere But Here,” which was also made into a movie with Susan Sarandon and Natalie Portman.
The flight to India
In 1974, Jobs traveled and stayed for seven months in India in search of spiritual guidance. He revealed that he experimented with the hallucinogenic drug LSD and eventually adopted Zen Buddhist practices, which greatly influenced his later life.
At one point he considered becoming a monk in Japan.
Apple start
Jobs met his partner Steve Wozniak in high school. He was 13 and Wozniak was 18. When they founded Apple, there was a third partner, Ronald Wayne, who even designed the now well-known Apple logo.
Wayne sold his 10% stake two weeks after founding the company for $800, a move that cost him billions.
Jobs was not honest with Wozniak. When they made Breakout for Atari, they agreed to split the profits 50-50. While the earnings were $5,000, Jobs told Wozniak that he had only received $700, so he gave him $350, keeping the remaining $4,650 for himself.
Refrain from taking a shower
Jobs was an Atari employee who at one point took the night shift exclusively, due to complaints from colleagues about his poor hygiene.
Jobs rarely showered, believing his vegan diet prevented him from smelling, which, of course, was not the case.
In 1985, Jobs was fired from Apple. He sold all of his shares, symbolically retaining only one. He later admitted that his departure from Apple was good for him because he had the opportunity to try other things, such as Pixar, the company that eventually made him a billionaire.
It should be noted that in the same year Wozniak also resigned from Apple and began working with charities.
the child who was denied
At the age of 23, Jobs will have a daughter out of wedlock, Lisa Brennan, a child with whom he took many years to get to know. For a long time he denied that he was her father, so Lisa’s mother raised her on luxury.
However, shortly after Lisa was born, Jobs named the new Apple computer after her. When she was accepted, Lisa changed her name to Lisa Brennan-Jobs.
In 1997, when he became CEO of Apple, he mentioned that he was paid $1 a year. In 2007 he famously said, “I get 50 cents a year for showing up for work and another 50 cents based on my performance.”
Jobs was also not at all a philanthropist, unlike many large businessmen. At first, Apple cut the company’s charitable programs, saying it would restart when the business was more profitable.
Huge prosperity came to the company, but charity never returned.
“Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God”
In 2003, Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Despite doctors’ advice for immediate intervention, he decided to turn to alternative medicine, follow a vegan diet, take various herbal medicines and get advice from a psychiatrist.
After nine months, he relented and agreed to have the operation. Many believe that this delay played a major role in his early death.
His last words before his death were “Oh, wow, wow, oh, wow”. He said it to all his family members gathered around him.
On the day of his death, flags flew over the buildings of Apple, Microsoft and Disneyland (he was a major shareholder in Disney).
