A very high fire risk (Danger Category 4) is forecast for tomorrow in Attica, Crete, parts of central Greece.
According to a fire risk forecast map published by the General Secretariat of Civil Defense of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Defense, the areas where the weather is “favorable” are the Peloponnese, the Northern Aegean, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

In particular, the following areas are forecast to have the highest fire risk tomorrow:
• Eastern Macedonia & Thrace Region (Samothraki Island including Evros PE, Rodopi PE, Shanti PE)
• Region of Attica
• Region of Central Greece (PE Boeotia, PE Evia)
• Peloponnese region (Corinthia region, Argolis region)
• North Aegean Region (Lesvos Region, Chios Region, Samos Region, Ikaria Region)
• Area of Crete

The Civil Protection General Secretariat of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr) informs competent government agencies engaged in official service, as well as regions and municipalities of the above regions. Civil defense preparedness should be enhanced to deal with any fire incidents immediately.

At the same time, the GPP advises citizens to be especially careful and avoid actions that cause fires due to negligence. , welding equipment, using outdoor grills, smoking bees, throwing lighted cigarettes, etc. Also, a reminder that burning fields is prohibited during fire protection periods.
Level 2 of PS’s operational readiness remains intact. and there will be aerial surveillance patrols, as well as patrols by fire, police and military forces.
At the same time, for the aforementioned areas, a program of civil protection measures is in place to deal with the risks of forest fires, according to which, among others, the implementation of a preventive measure for vehicular traffic and the expected stay of tourists in national forests, forests and “vulnerable” areas.
At the same time, the fire department is appealing to citizens to:
- Be especially careful and avoid any activity that could cause a fire.
- To monitor bushfire prevention information available on the website and official accounts of the Fire Service, Facebook and Twitter.
- In case of fire, call 199 to the fire department immediately.
Finally, the fire department calls on all citizens to be especially careful and to faithfully follow the instructions of competent authorities for their own safety in the event of a fire.
