Aim for the top and the title of the fastest SSDthe team group Just announced T-Force Z54A PCIe 5.0, which boasts an impressive sequential read speed of over 14GB/s and a write speed of over 11.5GB/s. If those numbers are indeed correct, the T-Force Z54A will take over the throne, as The fastest PCIe 5.0 SSD for the general consumer audience.
The T-Force Z54A stands out from other PCIe 5.0 motherboards because it uses InnoGrit’s IG5666 controller instead of the more popular Phison PS5026-E26. While Adata’s Project Nighthawk and Project Blackbird SSDs also use an InnoGrit controller, TeamGroup is the first to officially announce a finished product with this technology.
According to the performance measurements revealed by the company, it seems that the controller really makes a difference. In particular, the drive achieved sequential read speeds of up to 14365MB/s and write speeds of 11,547MB/s, surpassing Crucial T700, the fastest E26-equipped drive, which respectively reaches 12.4GB/s sequential write and 11.8. GB/s for sequential reads.
As for the design of the T-Force Z54A, it is quite simple, as the unit comes without a cooling system. However, as with PCIe 5.0 SSDs, thermal throttling can occur without a heatsink. Therefore, it is recommended to at least use the integrated M. 2 heatsink that most motherboards have, to ensure maximum performance.
TeamGroup is yet to reveal pricing and availability details for the T-Force Z54A. However, more information about the drive is expected to be announced at Computex 2023, which will be full of PC announcements.
