The local community of Heraklion is in mourning after the sudden death of a 32-year-old firefighter, who was found dead on Tuesday night, after an investigation in the Kordaliotiko Valley where his tracks were lost.
Christoforos, 32, was found dead by his colleagues in a ravine where he had gone hiking with his girlfriend.
The 32-year-old was a member of the Heraklion Mountaineering Association from a young age. Those who knew him spoke of him as a great man and the oldest and most experienced member who was appointed as the leader on many trips organized by the club.
Unfortunately, on August 11, an excursion was planned by the leader to the Corteliotigo Valley, where he was finally killed.

The unfortunate young man, who worked as a special duty officer in Heraklion, was found dead in half a meter of water, reportedly hit in the face.
An autopsy will reveal the exact cause of his death.
As he wrote Creta24, the 32-year-old was in the valley with a girlfriend when he lost his tracks. At around 7 pm, the girl detected a signal on her cell phone and informed the authorities when she had already reached the Braveli Lake Bridge.
A massive operation was immediately set up with the fire brigade, two EMAK teams from Hellas, Heraklion and a Red Cross team with mountaineering knowledge searching for the 32-year-old.
Tragically the man was found dead shortly after 11pm, leaving his family, friends and the fire department grief-stricken.
