The Duke’s Wrath to the Shrine of the Night

In addition to “Anaplasis SA”, the government leaves with an amendment that “spent the night” the Mayor of Athens, Haris Dougas, who refers to “regime sentiments” in his post.

Mr. Dougas refers to the “scandalous reform” of the institution, which led to a “grand walk” of the university, in contrast to what was in place during the Kostas Bagoyiannis era. That is to restore the pre-election regime of his predecessor.

The mayor of Athens speaks of “the perception of a regime that does not hesitate to take revenge on the citizens of Athens because they did not elect an elected government” and calls on the prime minister to “withdraw this scandalous amendment now”. .

Specifically, it states:

“The defamatory amendment should not be passed. The Athens Municipality “Anaplasi Athens SA” company, which hosted the University’s “Grand Walk”, Vasilissis Olgas and many other…projects, changes hands “overnight”. It goes entirely to the state.

Until now, the Athens Municipality appoints the current Athens Mayor as its President, and the municipality is represented by 7 of the 11 members of the Board of Directors (3 of whom are from his division), the Mayor also appoints the Executive Director. . In an amendment last night to the finance ministry’s multi-legislation, the government removed both the mayor of Athens as chairman of the board and board members from the municipality from the board. It is noteworthy that in its original form Law 4539/2018 did not provide that the Chairman of the Board of Directors is the Mayor of Athens. Added by ND Law (Article 59 Law 4663/2020).

I think the reason is obvious. Also the reason for abolishment is that the municipal authority has changed. This is the reigning treatment of the nation’s capital, which should not be passed up. This is a very establishment opinion, which does not hesitate to take revenge on the citizens of Athens because they did not elect an elected government. It is also evident that by this decision an attempt has been made to frustrate the financial and administrative control which the new municipal authority intends to exercise over the institution and its affairs. I request the Prime Minister to immediately withdraw this scandalous amendment.
