Françoise Arde took her last breath at the age of eighty. Her death was announced by her son, musician Thomas Detron, who posted a photo of them together on Instagram with the caption: “Mother is gone.”
Her serious health problems and the declaration of euthanasia
Ardi was diagnosed with cancer in 2004 and underwent years of chemotherapy. In 2015, her health condition worsened and she entered an artificial coma. Since then, she has had problems speaking, swallowing and breathing. In 2021, he came out in support of euthanasia, saying it was “inhumane” not to give people that option.

She was born in 1944 in Paris, grew up in the French capital, and at the age of sixteen she received her first guitar as a gift. From then on, Ardi started writing and singing her own songs. In 1961 he signed a contract with Disques Vogue.

The song “Tous les garçons et les filles” became a hit in 1962 and sold over 2.5 million copies. In 1963, he represented Monaco at the Eurovision Contest and placed fifth.
Collaboration and cinema
The international fame he gained paved the way for an English-language discography as well. In 1968, she released “Comment te Dire Adieu”, one of her biggest hits. The Rolling Stones and David Bowie declared their admiration while Bob Dylan wrote a poem dedicated to her.
Ardi has appeared in films by great auteurs such as Jean-Luc Godard and John Frankenheimer.
