As it seems, Naughty Dog’s next game will likely be The Last of Us 2: Remastered. In particular, after the complete transformation of the first part of The Last of Us, with the remake of The Last of Us: Part I released for PS5 and PC, the sequel seems to be taking its turn.
Going into details, one of the developers from the talented development team previously confirmed the project, through his LinkedIn bio. In particular, Mark Pajarello, the studio’s lead artist, speaking about his role in the team, said:
“I was responsible for overseeing the production of all art assets, weapons and interactive scenes in the outsourced environment for the main games The Last of Us: Part One and The Last of Us 2: Remastered.”
At the moment, there is no official announcement from Naughty Dog or PlayStation, but there have been related rumors since January 2022 that the team is preparing an upgraded version of the title for PS5. Of course, the strange thing is that the game has already been upgraded for console, allowing those playing through backwards compatibility to enjoy high 60fps performance. It is still uncertain what other improvements and upgrades the full Remaster will bring.
It should be noted that this information comes just a few days after Kotaku announced that the PlayStation studio would be laying off employees while The Last of Us Factions multiplayer was frozen.
