The Last of Us: The 10th Anniversary of the Legendary PlayStation Name

The calendar was read on June 14, 2013 when Naughty Dog released their first survival horror game called The Last of Us on PlayStation 3. The risk was high for the development team, as they already had many successful games like Uncharted in their history and this was the first time they brought It has a completely new IP address with what is called a zombie setting.

The development of The Last of Us began in 2009, after the release of the excellent game Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and this was the first time that the studio was divided into two parts. The director of The Last of Us was Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann, and their idea for the game originated while he was at university, where he said he wanted to create something based on the mechanics of an ICO but with a zombie apocalypse setting. The game focused on the characters bonding with two protagonists, Joel and Ellie.

Joel Troy Baker and Ellie are played by Ashley Johnson, both of whom Druckmann helped develop and relate to the characters, because the whole story revolves around these two characters. In fact, The Last of Us was also beloved for its music edited by famous composer Gustavo Santaolalla, who has written for Brokeback Mountain, Ronroco, Babel, and many other movies.

In the end, Naughty Dog won the bet and The Last of Us became a huge success worldwide selling over 1.3 million copies in one week and over 17 million by April 2018.

Described as one of the best video games of all time, it won dozens of awards including “Best Performance” for Ashley Johnson providing the voice of Ellie, and was also awarded Best Game at the BAFTA Game Awards. The Last of Us has won dozens of awards and has become one of the most awarded video games in history.

A year after its initial release, more precisely in July 2014, Sony has released an enhanced version, The Last of Us Remastered for PlayStation 4, while recently a complete remake for PlayStation 5, The Last of Us Part 1.

The story of The Last of Us continued with the Left Behind DLC that was released in February 2014 and was basically split into two parts. In the first part we saw Ellie with her friend Riley in Boston and in the second^the During the first match with Ellie searching an abandoned mall in Colorado for medical supplies to treat Joel.

Then also came the excellent and highly successful The Last of Us Part 2 for PlayStation 4, which takes place a few years after the events of the first part, starring Ellie, Joel and new character Abby.

The franchise had grown exponentially by then, and PlayStation partnered with HBO on something…new. Sony and HBO created The Last of Us series which premiered in January starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie, respectively. The Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin show was doing very well in the ratings and now people are eagerly waiting for 2^the season.

Finally, Naughty Dog, aside from a multiplayer game they’re preparing, hasn’t yet officially announced if or when The Last of Us Part 3 will come, so until then you’ll have to arm yourself with patience.
