Microsoft is introducing a new taskbar override feature to Windows 11, which is designed to make it easier to find open applications once the taskbar runs out of space. It is perfect for professional users or people who like to keep all their apps open all the time. The Bypass the new taskbar It is a three-dot menu that appears once the taskbar runs out of space, and neatly hides all the applications that cannot be placed in the taskbar at the same time.
Currently, if you open too many apps in Windows 11 and Windows 10, the taskbar will create an overflow area that displays only the most recently used or opened apps. This means that if you’re an app connoisseur, it can be difficult to navigate a lot of programs on smaller laptop screens (especially if you’re not using alt + tab and other multitasking features).
The new full menu matches the design of Windows 11, and includes all the taskbar features you’d expect to see like pinning apps and jump lists. “After calling overflow, the menu will be quietly discarded once you click outside of it or go to an app,” Explains Amanda Langofskyhead of the Microsoft Windows Insider Program.
Microsoft’s new redundant changes come just days after the company revealed them Testing a new UI for the Windows 11 taskbar. The software giant is experimenting with bringing back the familiar search bar from Windows 10, along with notification badges for the Tools section in Windows 11.
Windows 11 testers can try out this new overflow feature in the latest Dev Channel build released this week. Microsoft is also testing improvements to the AirDrop-like Nearby Sharing feature in Windows 11. The built-in sharing window now supports UDP to find nearby devices, which means you’ll now be able to quickly find nearby computers to quickly share files. If you share local files through the sharing interface, Microsoft also adds OneDrive integration to make uploading and sharing files to the cloud quick and easy.
Finally, the Microsoft Store is also getting an update this week that makes it easy to see prices for games, apps, or movies. It is now also easier to see the different versions of the game, so you can quickly see the prices between the Standard and Deluxe editions of the games.
