The screen of the company's new “professional” tablet has a diagonal of 12.4 inches and is of the IPS LCD type with a 3:2 aspect ratio (which many professionals will find very useful), a 3K resolution (3,048 x 2,032 pixels) and a refresh rate of 144 Hz for For an ultra-smooth image no matter the task. According to the Chinese company, its brightness also reaches 900 lumens, a feature that greatly helps the quality of display under the bright lights of indoor spaces or offices, or under sunlight in outdoor environments.
Xiaomi is also proud of the Pad S6 Pro's display which it claims has been professionally calibrated based on the CIE2015 color curve, in line with the company's range of TVs, laptops and mobile phones. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and of course supports the stylus. The touch sample rate is 360Hz and 240Hz when using a finger or stylus respectively.
Inside the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which depending on the version comes with 8GB, 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage space, respectively. The battery has a capacity of 10,000 mAh, and supports 120-watt HyperCharge fast charging, with the Chinese company claiming that 35 minutes is enough to charge to 100% (10 minutes is enough to reach 45% from 0% as well). As in the case of the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra, in the case of the Xiaomi Pad S6 Pro, the company also uses the Xiaomi Surge security and battery management system, which includes two specialized chips, P2 and G1, with the first to monitor the charge and the second the battery health.
The device is equipped with a fully capable camera system that comes straight from the company's mobile phones. More specifically, it has a 50-megapixel camera with an f:/1.8 lens capable of shooting 4K video at 30 fps and a 2-megapixel camera that acts as a depth sensor. The system comes with an LED flash. On the front there is a 32-megapixel camera with f:/2.2 lens aperture and the ability to shoot FHD video at 30 frames per second.
A special feature of the Xiaomi Pad S6 Pro 12.4 is the presence of a series of pogo pins at the back that allow it to be connected to the Xiaomi SU7 electric car to form part of the car's control / infotainment system. It could also be an external screen for some devices of the company's new Xiaomi 14 series smartphones.
The Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4, like the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra, runs the HyperOS operating system, which is based on Android 14. The company says that the Xiaomi Pad 6S is the first device with the three revolutionary features: Home Screen+, Cross-Device Collaboration and Xiaomi Smart Hub. The Home Screen+ feature allows users to connect to their mobile phone directly from the tablet to answer calls or messages, while the Cross-device Notes feature allows users to add photos taken with their mobile phone to notes on their tablet. The Xiaomi Smart Hub can connect up to seven devices at the same time so that they are all at the user's disposal, while the NFC Tap to Share function simplifies the file transfer process.
Director Mode is also a feature specifically aimed at content creators as it turns the tablet into a professional display that connects to the mobile phone to capture camera shots on the larger screen. The company has also improved several apps to improve screen usage and multitasking more efficiently. For example, WPS Office and CajViewer now support triple segmentation, which Xiaomi calls the “Workbench interface.” Thus, the user can “run” applications side by side or multiple applications as floating windows on top of the desktop. The Pad 6S Pro 12.4 can also be used with an external monitor or as a second monitor for a Windows laptop.
As is clear, the name of the device includes the screen diagonal (12.4 inches). This may indicate that the company intends to announce another device in the Pad S6 Pro series, perhaps smaller, with an 11-inch screen for example. The device also contains four microphones and six speakers with Dolby Atmos support and will be available in three colors: blue, black and green.
Along with the Xiaomi Pad S6 Pro 12.4, the company also announced the Smart Touch Keyboard and Focus Stylus, two accessories that are sold separately but are essential for the full experience promised by the new device of the Chinese company. The keyboard is full, with a trackpad and illuminated keys, while the pen supports 8,192 levels of pressure and exhibits just a 3ms delay to give the feeling of writing or drawing on regular paper.
The new Xiaomi tablet will be launched in our country in April. The price announced in the official presentation of the device in Barcelona is 699 euros.
