A photo of Kim Jong Un reveals the future of North Korea. That’s what analysts think, seeing a lot more than meets the eye in a recent photo of the North Korean leader and his daughter visiting an air base.
The detail that makes the difference is that Yoo Ae in the photo is doing the unthinkable by the standards of leading the most isolated country in the world, standing one step ahead of her father, Kim Jong Un.
As the Chosun Ilbo newspaper comments, citing sun“Yoo Ae is in all the photos so far with her father standing either next to him or a step behind him, but in this particular photo she is the main character.” He continues, saying: “This is something truly unprecedented in North Korea, where there is such an obsession with the status of its leader that he makes him its supporting actor.”
It is worth noting that in 2019, the dictator’s personal photographer was fired because he allowed Kim Jong-un’s neck to be seen in public, which was considered a disastrous moment for his leadership superiority.
But this time his daughter is the star, and this cannot be considered a coincidence, because another photo from the same visit shows her once again one step ahead of her father. This means, according to analysts, that Kim Jong Un is grooming Yoo Ae as his successor when he retires from the front lines of power.
“Even today we have seen North Korean officials and close advisors to the country’s leader standing apart from him and several steps behind him. “The photo with his daughter (wearing Gucci sunglasses) in the foreground proves that he is a figure that the entire country should respect,” commented Michael Maiden, founder of the organization Observing North Korean leadership, he concludes that if she was not destined to be his successor, she certainly assumed the duties of first lady.
