The three accused were professional bank robbers and members of an international ring
Three Colombian members of an international network have been identified as the perpetrators of the theft of five safes in a bank vault in Nea Smyrni on July 8, 2022.
A case was registered against three foreigners, aged 46, 42 and 46, for forming and membership of a criminal organization and theft.
After a lengthy investigation by the police and with the cooperation of international investigators, it was revealed that the three defendants were members of a transnational mobile criminal group specializing in bank robbery.

As for the methodology followed by the defendants, they initially entered our country several days in advance to investigate candidate targets.
After selecting a target store, they visited it several times over three days to map the area and videotaped its view for more careful monitoring of security measures.
Splitting their roles, they pretended to be customers and entered the shop one by one donning surgical masks.
Exactly executing their plan, they came upon the vault without noticing it, broke open five of the vaults and removed the jewels inside.
They left like humans
They left the store one after the other and followed different routes, where they met far from the store, communicating with each other by phone in between.
On the same day they left the country and traveled by air to an EU country.
The file was submitted to the Athens Prosecutor’s Office for the issuance of national and international arrest warrants.
