While the scientific community is eagerly searching for the mysterious planet that many experts and studies have reported is hidden somewhere in our solar system beyond Neptune, a research team consisting of scientists from the National Observatory of Japan and Kindai University in Japan says that we must direct our attention to the region. Another one far from our solar system, which is the Kuiper Belt, and we are looking for an unknown planet there.
The Kuiper Belt is a region at the edge of our solar system that is filled with small and large icy rocks, some of which have been found to have characteristics of dwarf planets. with Publishing In the “Astrophysical Journal”, the research team finds that in addition to objects with the characteristics of dwarf planets in the Kuiper Belt, there is also a planet with a size similar to the size of Earth that follows an inclined orbit around the Sun.
In the Kuiper Belt is NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft, which after an epic journey passed through it and captured valuable images and data from the Pluto system. But NASA recently decided to significantly reduce funding for the mission, meaning the vehicle will remain in service but will now record much less data, a fact that has sparked reactions in the scientific community. Perhaps this new research and the possibility of an Earth-sized planet in the Kuiper Belt will force NASA to change its mind and allow the spacecraft to attempt to locate this planet.
